What Actually Happens During an Emotion Code Session? And How Can It Be Done Over the Phone?
Maybe you heard about the Emotion Code on a podcast. Maybe someone you know had a session and told you about their experience. Or maybe you've been researching it yourself.
Now you're considering trying it.
But as you're looking for a practitioner, you notice something interesting.
The session is done over the phone.
Wait a minute.
How is someone supposed to work with your emotions when you're not even in the same room?
It's a reasonable question.
So let me explain what the Emotion Code is, what actually happens during a session with me, and how I work with people throughout the country without ever meeting them in person.
First, What Is the Emotion Code?
The Emotion Code is an energy-healing method developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson.
It's based on the idea that emotionally difficult experiences can sometimes leave behind what the method calls trapped emotions.
Think about something that happened years ago that still gets a reaction out of you today.
Maybe somebody criticizes you, and you immediately become defensive.
Maybe you feel rejected even when nobody is rejecting you.
Or maybe you've spent years telling yourself you're not good enough, no matter what you accomplish.
You might understand perfectly well that your reaction doesn't fit the situation.
But knowing that doesn't necessarily stop it.
Our past experiences can influence our expectations, emotional responses, and how we interpret what's happening around us.
The Emotion Code takes an energy-based approach to exploring those experiences. It uses the concept of trapped emotions as a framework for identifying and attempting to release emotional baggage.
That's different from a medical diagnosis or a scientifically established test for emotions stored in the body. It's important to understand that distinction.
What Happens During a Session With Me?
We don't start by digging through your entire childhood.
We start with what's happening in your life right now.
What are you struggling with?
What keeps happening that you wish would stop?
Maybe it's anxiety, a recurring relationship issue, feeling stuck, or a physical discomfort you've already had medically evaluated.
I'll ask questions to get a clearer picture.
How long has this been happening?
Do you remember what was going on in your life when it started?
Is there a particular situation that makes it worse?
Those questions help us identify what we're actually working on.
Then I use the methods I've been trained in to explore whether an emotional experience, subconscious belief, or other energetic pattern may be associated with the issue.
When something comes up, I explain what we're finding and why it may be relevant.
And we work with it during the session.
You're not paying me to simply tell you that your past might be affecting your present. You can probably figure that much out on your own.
The purpose of the session is to do the work, not just talk about the possibility of doing it someday.
But How Can You Do the Emotion Code Over the Phone?
Here's the part that often raises eyebrows.
The Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code are taught with a method of distance work called proxy work.
Rather than physically testing or working on the client, the practitioner carries out the energy-work process on their own side of the session.
That's the framework I use for remote work.
You don't need to be physically present. You don't need special equipment. And you don't need to learn the technique yourself.
We talk by phone while I carry out the process.
It's worth being clear about what that means: distance energy work is a practice within these modalities, not a scientifically proven way of diagnosing or treating medical or psychological conditions.
I can explain the method, tell you what I'm finding, and walk you through what I'm doing. I won't pretend there's a conventional medical explanation for every part of it.
My preference is that you understand the approach and decide for yourself whether it's something you want to explore.
Do You Only Use the Emotion Code?
No.
I'm certified in the Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code through Discover Healing. I'm also certified in Sound Therapy.
Those first three methods are related, but they have different areas of focus.
The Emotion Code focuses on identifying and releasing what the method describes as trapped emotions.
The Body Code expands the approach to other categories of energetic imbalance that practitioners explore in connection with physical and emotional concerns.
The Belief Code focuses on unwanted subconscious beliefs and belief systems.
Why does that matter?
Because sometimes the issue you're experiencing isn't just about one emotion.
Consider someone who repeatedly feels rejected in relationships.
There may be a painful experience connected to that reaction. But there may also be a deeply held belief such as I'm not worthy of love or People always leave me.
Those are different things to explore.
Having training in all three methods allows me to work within a broader framework instead of approaching every concern exactly the same way.
Will I Feel Something During the Session?
Maybe. Maybe not.
Some people report feeling lighter, calmer, or emotionally different after a session. Others notice changes gradually.
And then there are people who tell me they haven't noticed much of a difference.
But here's something interesting: Sometimes the people around them have.
A spouse might mention that they seem more relaxed. A friend might notice they aren't getting upset over things that used to bother them. Someone might even point out that they're handling situations differently.
Yet the person who had the session may not have consciously recognized any change.
Think about that for a moment.
If you've spent years automatically expecting rejection, feeling criticized, or preparing for something to go wrong, that response can become so familiar that you barely notice it's happening.
It's part of how you've learned to interpret the world.
One way I look at this work is that we're exploring the subconscious beliefs and emotional experiences that may be influencing that interpretation.
And if those old responses begin to change, you might not immediately recognize what's different.
You aren't necessarily aware that you're no longer looking at everything through the same negative filter.
You just aren't reacting the way you used to.
And sometimes the people who know you best recognize that before you do.
Of course, that doesn't happen for everyone, and someone noticing a difference doesn't automatically establish what caused it.
You also might not feel anything unusual while we're working.
An immediate sensation isn't required, and a noticeable result isn't guaranteed.
That's why I encourage people to pay attention to the actual issue that brought them in.
If you came because you always shut down during disagreements, the important question isn't whether you felt something during our phone call.
It's whether that response begins to change in your everyday life.
And if it doesn't, we need to be willing to acknowledge that, too.
Is This Counseling or Medical Treatment?
No.
I'm not a licensed counselor, psychologist, or medical provider. I don't diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or replace the care you're receiving from a qualified professional.
I offer a separate, nonclinical approach for people interested in exploring emotional patterns, subconscious beliefs, and energy-based work.
If you're dealing with ongoing pain, new physical symptoms, significant anxiety, or another health concern, appropriate medical or mental-health care still matters.
This work may be something you choose to explore alongside that care, not instead of it.
You Don't Have to Commit to a Whole Program to Experience It
I offer a 30-minute Discovery Session for $47, conducted by phone.
And I want to be clear about something.
This isn't a consultation where I spend half an hour explaining what I do and then try to sell you a package.
It's an actual working session.
You bring something specific you'd like to address.
We'll talk briefly about what's happening, explore what may be connected to it, and work with what comes up during our time together.
That gives you a chance to experience my approach firsthand.
If you decide you'd like to continue into a package, the $47 is credited toward that work.
If you don't, there's no obligation.
One Last Thing
I've worked with people who know exactly why they react the way they do.
They can tell you what happened, who hurt them, and how it's affected their lives.
Yet the reaction is still there.
That's something I find fascinating about being human.
Understanding a problem and no longer experiencing it aren't necessarily the same thing.
The work I do is about exploring what may still be influencing those responses, using the methods I've been trained in.
If you've been looking for an Emotion Code practitioner and wondering what it's like to work with one, now you have a better idea of what to expect.
And if you're ready to experience a session for yourself, we can start there.
